Strength in weakness….
If you are looking for a strong, vibrant church, where everyone is “walking in victory”, triumphing over their enemies, well, keep searching because we are not that church! Our reading of Scripture tells us that, not only are we weak, but that we need to come to that understanding of ourselves before God can use us. So, if you are looking for a church struggling to be relevant, in desperate need of help, wanting to honour God, but unsure as to how to go about this, well then we would love to hear from you.
Our confidence is in the Gospel, fully convinced that God has decisively intervened in our world through his son, Jesus. It is through his life and death and resurrection that God has put us right with himeslf. We are also convinced of the reliability of God’s Word, and believe that God still speaks to us through it. God’s Word, rightly understood, is what forms our worldview and challenges our life styles. For example, it’s not just that Jesus Christ died for you, but understanding how that death impacts your marriage, disturbs your selfishness, provides a context for suffering, models self sacrificing love, that makes the difference.
And thirdly, we are dependent on the Holy Spirit to inspire, invigorate and empower us. We believe that, as the kingdom of God breaks through into the present, we see evidence of this in the Spirit’s activity today; at the same time we look forward to the full manifestation of the kingdom at some time in the future.
Our “worship” style is informal and modern, but seeks for a balance between good music and content. We have a great team of musicians and we marvel at how God has blessed us in this regard. Whilst we are committed to the timeless truths of the message, we believe that we do our community a disservice if we do not seek to express these truths in the medium and language of our day.
We find the task of speaking to our generation tremendously challenging and we are always seeking new ways of connecting with the community.
